We did this really fun workout last week that really challenged the entire core from top to bottom. Everyone loved it even though it was pretty tough.
Don’t have ropes and chains at home? No problem. You can drag anything. Just stay low and tight.

Next to Kettlebells; my favorite workouts have to be with the ropes.
They look so harmless lying there but they certainly deliver a powerful punch. I love to see new people use the rope in our circuits. I don’t think they have any idea of how hard and how taxing working out with the ropes can be.
The best thing about the ropes is that I can get my client’s heart rates high quickly without any impact on their joints. The effect is much like doing sprints.
Here is a video of our campers doing full body rope slams.
Ricky came up with a crazy rope and press combo. Not only did it challenge the core but also challenged coordination.
The circuit was
Ropes
Sledgehammer
Knees to Elbows (or for some, knees to wherever you can get them)!
Broad Jumps
Ammo Can Step Ups
I keep promising myself that I would be more faithful with this blog but as you can see, it’s not working out so well. It’s sad though, because I love to write and actually miss it. Keeping up with Facebook, Twitter and other sites I subscribe to are sucking up my time. I need to remedy that and soon.
Anyway, here is a quick video I shot of one of our workouts in May. We snuck in some corrective exercises cleverly disguised as part of our circuit. I find just telling people that a particular exercise will work their abs or butts will take care of any concerns or questions. It’s like putting your dogs heartworm pills in peanut butter. He thinks he’s getting a treat, but actually he’s getting something good for him.
Ricky thought of adding the skaters to the ropes and it was great. So the circuit was;
Rows
Tire flips
Kettlebell DL
Jump Rope
TRX Squat, Row and Curl combo
Crazy Ropes
! leg bridges (our corrective exercise)
Aquabag Reverse Lunges
Here is part of a workout we did during our last week of boot camp. It was 4 minutes at each station.
1. Burpees over hurdles (jumping sideways) and Push up, step ups on an ammo can, alternating exercises every minute.
2. Partner rope pulls switching every minute
3. Side step downs, switching legs every minute
4. Turkish Get ups, switching sides every minute.
Also on this video is get ups we did with the big ropes and a clip of our Kettlebell class learning the Snatch.
Tell us what you think.
